Travel Trends Show Tourists In Bali Have A Growing Sense Of Adventure

Share The Article

Travel providers in Bali’s Karangasem Regency have shared the news that interest in adventure activities on the island is rising. It’s not hard to see why!

While many travelers love to hang out in the sun, there are just as many out there who want to really explore their chosen travel destination on a deeper level.

According to river rafting tour leaders in Karangasem Regency, in east Bali, demand for adventure experiences is increasing. In recent months it has been travelers from the Middle East and India who have been driving demand.

But, as high season approaches, tourism leaders are certain that river rafting experiences in Bali will continue to soar in popularity with tourists from Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and North America.

River rafting tour guide I Made Agus Kertiana told reporters, “Fortunately, tourist visits have started to increase after the Covid-19 pandemic. Hopefully, it will continue to increase.” He revealed that it is not only in East Bali where demand is rising.

Kertiana said, “There are several rafting companies in Telaga Waja. The rafting business in Telaga Waja also competes in rafting in Gianyar Regency. It is possible that some tourists will also visit Gianyar.” Gianyar Regency is best known for being home to Bali’s arts and culture capital, Ubud.

While adventure tourism across the board is growing in demand, whether that be surfing, hiking, or cultural experiences like art classes and cooking lessons, it is river rafting in Bali that is really capturing tourists’ attention in 2023.

In light of this, local government leaders are targeting rafting to become an even bigger tourism attraction, building the experience of river rafting to include nature and cultural experiences as well as the wild adventure ride.

The Regent of Klungkung, I Nyoman Suwirta, has told reporters that local sporting talent for river rafting is also helping to boost the profile of the experience in Bali.

He said that the local river rafting sports teams are doing a good job of raising the profile of Bali’s river rafting both as a sport and adventure activity, something that benefits both local communities and tourists.

Suwirta said, “we express our appreciation and support for the Klungkung rafting tea, which will take part in the regional championships. We hope that in the future we will be able to achieve proud achievements.”

So where can adventure-seeking tourists find the best river rafting experiences in Bali? Starting in the east, white water rafting and tubing is best expired on the Telaga Waja River.

There are dozens of tour providers who offer wild (but safe!) experiences out on the water.

The forest and ravines of east Bali are some of the most strikingly beautiful on the whole island.

Attracting fewer visitors than the busy south of the island, this is one of the most exciting ways to see an often overlooked part of Bali.

For those planning a river rafting adventure as a day trip, it’s easiest to explore the rivers that surround central Ubud.

River rafting on the Ayung River in Bali is one of the most popular places to try this ever-growing tourist adventure.

White water rafting trips on the Ayung River around Ubud typically last 2-2.5 hours. Many tourists chose to add a little extra adrenaline adventure to their day trip and take part in an epic ATV ride through the jungle.

Popular with travelers of all ages, families, backpackers, couples, and groups of travelers, a river rafting and ATV day trip in Bali is one of the most popular and memorable excursions on the island.

Quote "Tourists In Bali Have A Growing Sense Of Adventure".

I agree. Last week I challenged myself to bike down to Mertasari beach for a cold beer. On the way I found the roadside and drains filled up with uncollected garbage every 50m or so. Terrible sight and smell like a rotten 3rd world shanty town. But I'm not complaining as I'm supposed to have a "growing sense of adventure".

@Exp, I always wonder if the locals will ever get tired of all the rubbish. I'm still patiently waiting...

I've just recently experienced a number of Bali's brilliant attractions from white water rafting, the sea walk, snorkelling with turtles , horse riding & buggy & ATV rides etc. Seriously I couldn't think of anywhere better to do it . This is seriously one stunningly beautiful country . Just about to soon go back for more. Absolutely ❤️ ya Bali
