Three Waterfalls Become Official Tourist Destinations In Bali

Chasing waterfalls is a must-do activity while on vacation in Bali. With so many glorious waterfalls to explore, Bali offers tourists an unrivaled opportunity to connect with green landscapes.

Many of the waterfalls in Bali are managed as community-led tourism attractions, and three more have just been added to the list.

Bangli Regency is one of the most underrated tourist destinations in Bali. Home to stunning local villages, verdant agricultural landscapes, and dozens of waterfalls, there is a sense of the ‘true’ Bali alive and thriving in Bangli.

The waterfalls that have now formally been listed as tourist attractions are Tibumana Waterfall in Susut Village, Tukad Cepung Waterfall, and Goa Raja Waterfall, both in Tembuku Village.

All three destinations are already known to many Bali tourists, but the new listings will mean that the communities will get more support in creating the basic infrastructure necessary to ensure tourists have a safe and memorable time.

Tourists will now pay a set entry fee to visit Tibumana Waterfall, Tukad Cepung Waterfall, and Goa Raja Waterfall.

These funds will be sent to the regency government to be used to improve public services and infrastructure around the regency.

The Head of the Bangli Tourism and Culture Department, I Wayan Sugiarta told reporters each of the waterfalls welcomes around 200 people per day.

International tourists will be required to pay IDR 25,000 per adult and IDR 15,000 per child to visit each of the waterfalls.

Sugiarta explained, “This is because these three new [tourist attractions] still need promotional efforts from the government so that they can be like the other five [destinations].”

The fees haven’t been set at 50% of the usual regency tourism attraction entry fee since this matches the current suggested donation at the three waterfalls and since more infrastructure must be in place before the regency feels it is appropriate to charge the full entry fee.

Tukad Cepung Waterfall is a particularly special spot. Tourists can only access the waterfall via a walk down the ridge through the jungle. It is a real adventure. The hike is steep but manageable on the concrete steps.

But for those looking for the vibe of Tukad Cepung Waterfall but without the company of fellow tourists, be sure to check out Kirisk Waterfall, which sits just a 3-minute drive through the village.

What makes Krisik Waterfall so special is that there is not one but two waterfalls to enjoy.

Tourists must also climb down the steps along the ridge and walk through the shallow river to reach the waterfalls, definitely an experience for real adventure lovers.

Goa Raja Waterfall is something of an open secret amongst Bali lovers. The majestic waterfall flows above a cave deep in the Bangli forests.

It’s not uncommon for tourists to have the spot to themselves, especially in the early morning or late afternoon.

It’s well worth visiting outside of peak hours to be able to soak in the fresh air and magical landscape in as much solitude as possible.

Tibumana Waterfall is the smallest of the three newly recognized tourist attractions but is set amongst a densely forested patch of jungle and can be accessed by crossing a photogenic bamboo bridge.

Both the communities in Susut Village and Tembuku Village are still living very traditional, rural lives. The villages are

The other official tourist attractions in Bangli Regency include world famous Penglipuran Village, Pura Kehen, Terunyan Village, and Mount Batur.

The entry fee for each of these destinations is the full IDR 50,000 per person as stipulated by the regency government.

Penglipuran Village is one of the top cultural tourism attractions in Bali. The iconic village is known as the cleanest village in the world, and tourists can even stay overnight by booking in for the homestay experience, where they will be treated to a nightly street party-style dinner.
