Bali’s Buleleng Regency is one of the most culturally rich and environmentally diverse regions of the island.

Best known for tourism destinations like Lovina Beach and West Bali National Park, there are countless hidden gems to be discovered in this part of the island. 

The Head of the Buleleng Tourism Office, Gede Dody Sukma Oktiva Askara, has spoken to the media about the increasing amount of tourism interest in the area.

During his recent press conference, he spoke about how tourism levies have been used to improve facilities for tourists and how he and his teams have big plans for the area moving forward. 

Askara said that tourism levees, in the form of entry tickets and parking fees to the regions leading tourism attractions, will be redistributed into up-and-coming tourist destinations across Buleleng in order to level up the region.

Buleleng Regency is a nature lovers’ paradise. Home to freshwater lakes, rolling hills, dense jungles, and the most special waterfalls in all of Bali.

Gitgit Waterfall

Gitgit Waterfall is one of the most impressive waterfalls anywhere in Indonesia, and that is quite the statement. Gitgit Waterfall is the highest waterfall on the island, propelling fresh water from a striking 48m above.

The site is also known to be one of the most historically significant waterfalls in Bali; the waterfall and jungle clearing was used by the Dutch colonial governments as a bathing spot before it was latterly transformed into a tourism designation.

For nature lovers, Gitgit Waterfall is a gateway adventure. From Gitgit Village, tourists can join tour guides to explore the waterfall hike.

The trek stops at five waterfalls in total, including Campuhan Waterfall, Colek Pamor Waterall, Gigit Waterfall, Ceburan Dukuh Waterfall, and the Multi-Tier Waterfall.

Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan

Banyumala Waterfall

Just a short drive north of Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan is the cascading Banyumala Waterfall. The gushing tired waterfall plunges down into a natural spring pool that is perfect for swimming, a much-needed cool down from the hike, and breathtaking photos for the ‘gram. 

Of all the waterfalls in Buelelng, this is considered to be the most popular. However, Banyumala Waterfall is still considerably more chilled than the super busy nature hotspots closer to the southern beaches.

Aksara has also said that the tourism levy will continue to be applied to Bulelengs most popular beaches. Each nominal entry ticket fee will be clocked electronically to ensure transparency of the use of funds across the region.

The beaches in Buleleng with a small entry ticket fee include Kerobokan Beach in Kerobokan Village, Penimbangan Beach, Happy Beach, and Celuk Agung Beach. The much-loved Lovina Beach and nearby Kaliasem Beach also incur a small entry fee for all visitors. Tourists can expect Buleleng’s beaches to be well-kept and, in time, will receive a funding boost for better public services.
