New Major Resort Development In Bali Highlights Seseh As Island’s Next Biggest Tourist Destination

If you were to ask someone in Bali where the fastest-growing destination on the island is, they’d sure say Uluwatu.

Here at The Bali Sun, we beg to differ. It only takes a quick drive through Seseh to see that this coastal farming community is changing at the speed of light.

Seseh, situated just a stone’s throw from Canggu, is easily the quickest changing destination in Bali. In fact, it feels kind of wild to even refer to Seseh as a destination, rather than the small rural community that truly is.

As with all tourism hotspots in Bali, the change was quiet, gradual, and then a sudden boom. The biggest sign that there is no going back for Seseh is the development of a new major tourist resort, backed by Taryan Group and international hotel brand Anantara.

The Anantara Dragon Seseh Bali Resort & Residences will be the largest development in Seseh to date. Located between the booming tourist town of Canggu and Nuanu City at Nyanyi Beach, the project initially received pushback from local communities.

To be built just a stone’s throw from the Green Belt, the hotel will eventually be connected to major infrastructure projects underway in Bali, including the long-anticipated Bali Metro and the Gilimanuk-Medewi Highway.

The latest development confirms that Anantara Dragon Seseh Bali will be partnering with Savaya as its food and beverage operator.

Savaya is the most luxurious beach club in Bali, located overlooking the cliffs of Uluwatu. The team behind the project spoke with reporters from Travel + Leisure Magazine to discuss how the hotel and private-branded residence is set to change the game in Bali.

CEO of Taryan Group, Artur Mkhitaryan, said, “The involvement of Savaya Group not only ensures that Anantara Dragon Seseh Bali remains beyond competition, but also strengthens the project’s operational resilience and long-term investment appeal.” The Taryan Group is the investment company and property developers behind some of Ukraine’s most ambitious construction projects, including the Royal Tower, Taryan Towers, and the Tsarsky City Resort in Kyiv.

Savaya Group’s CEO, Alex Cordova, explained: “This marks our expansion beyond nightlife into fully integrated hospitality, where food and beverage, design and atmosphere are central to the experience and embedded into the DNA of the property from the very beginning.”

The Anantara Dragon Seseh Bali Resort & Residence is described as “An innovative project with an extraordinary dragon-shaped design and cocoon-style residences by renowned British architect John Dawes. Anantara Dragon Seseh Bali Resort & Residences will be the first luxury beachfront resort and residences in Seseh, offering world-class amenities.”

The resort and residence complex is set to open its doors officially in 2028. It will be home to 235 units known as ‘cocoons’, ranging from 52.5-120 sqm. The complex will boast three infinity pools and direct access to Seseh’s black sand beach, which is set to host an in-house surf school.

Resort infrastructure will include a conference and co-working space, fitness and yoga area, two restaurants with upwards of 400 seats, in addition to a shop, bouquets, and a wellness spa. The complex will also feature underground parking and a helipad.

Resort plans suggest that luxury knows no bounds in Seseh. The 52.5 sqm cocoons, which are the smallest units, will offer guests and residential investors access to a private jacuzzi and daybed overlooking the ocean. The cocoon will feature its down dressing room, ensuite bathroom, dedicated living room, and terrace.

The hotel may not even be finished being built yet, but it is already winning awards. The hotel won big at the International Property Awards, with three awards in the Best in Asia Pacific Category, including for Best New Hotel Construction and Design, Best Hotel Architecture, and Best Developer Website.
