Bali is set to welcome the official opening of the long-anticipated Bali Maritime Tourism Hub in just a matter of months.
As Benoa’s tourism resort prepares to celebrate the launch of this new chapter, leaders are sharing their vision for the future of marine tourism in the province.

In 2025 and beyond, luxury cruise tourism and luxury yachts will be a huge travel trend in Bali. As the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub project nears completion, the new multi-billion rupiah development is set to change the face of Bali’s tourism offering forever.
The impacts of the upgrades to Bali’s Benoa Harbor and surrounding resort area can already be felt.
According to data from PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo), in 2023, Benoa Port recorded 48 dockings by cruise ships, welcoming 78,214 passengers. This led to the port area welcoming 120,980 passengers on cruise liners in 2024.
In 2025, the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub in Benoa is expected to start operating at full capacity. This new chapter for Beona sees the harbor area now capable of accommodating more than 50 superyachts over 90 meters in length.
Speaking to reporters Indonesia’s Deputy Minister for Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, shared “This project will be a catalyst for the development of other marinas in Indonesia from Sabang to Raja Ampat, from Labuan Bajo to Morotai, which will ultimately make Indonesia a major destination for world cruise tourism.”
Speaking separately, Joko Noerhudha, President and Director of Pelindo Solusi Logistik, shared, “The new marina in Bali will be a hub for Indonesian yacht owners and yacht charters, contributing to the growth of Indonesia’s tourism sector and the wider economy.”
The opening of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub is set to see Bali become one of the leading luxury cruise destinations in Southeast Asia, competing with the likes of Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong Ho Chi Ming City, Kuala Lumpur, and Hanoi.
With the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub poised to welcome dozens of luxury yachts, tourists can expect to see many more high-end sailing experiences become available.
From private charter tours to luxury live-aboard adventures to yacht parties, tourists who want to experience the high life are advised to keep a close eye on Benoa’s offerings in the coming weeks and months.
As leaders prepare to celebrate the launch of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub in Benoa, tourists will soon see more marine tourism offerings promoted throughout Denpasar City.
In May 2025, the Head of the Denpasar Tourism Office, Ni Luh Putu Riyastiti, launched a new marine tourism campaign aboard the Phinsi Cruise Ship.

During the event, Riyastiti and her team highlighted the need for renewed commitments to sustainable tourism and eco-tourism in the Denpasar area.
While Denpasar as a municipality is best known for tourist attractions such as Gajah Mada Market and the Bajra Sandi Monument, Denpasar City also includes beach resort areas like Sanur, Benoa, and Serangan Island.

Riyastiti told reporters “Behind this potential is a big responsibility, namely maintaining marine sustainability, protecting coastal ecosystems, and ensuring that every development step is carried out the principle of sustainability.”
The Denpasar Tourims Office’s new campaign develop more marine tourism in the area comes as a way to not only improve tourist experiences but to help boost the local economy and support the environment.
As Riyastiti shared “This concept encourages us not only to ensure that the impact of tourism is not damaging but to be able to repair and restore the ecosystem and the quality of life of local communities.”

One of the most popular marine tourism experiences in the Denpasar area right now is the Phinisi Cruise.
The sunset and dinner cruise experience is available 7-days a week and booking can be made online at the Phinisi Cruise website.
