After last week’s controversy over the South Korean Embassy issuing safety warnings to tourists in Bali, leaders in Bali are taking an even stricter stance against those found to be violating their laws.
Over the weekend, Badung Police conducted night patrols in the North Kuta area.

Bali is one of the safest tourism destinations in the world, let that be said straight off the bat. Nevertheless, Bali Police are doubling down on their commitment to keeping tourism resorts and residential areas as safe as possible.
This includes cracking down on anti-social behavior. One of the biggest sources of anti-social behavior in Bali is illegal street racing. Many young drivers engage in illegal street racing at night and have illegally modified their motorcycles with what are known as ‘brong’ exhausts.
Over the weekend, the Badung Police conducted a series of spot checks and surprise patrols in areas where illegal street racers are known to hang out. During patrols in Canggu, the Badung Police Chief, AKBP Joseph Edward Purba, led a patrol in which 25 violators were documented, 17 Indonesian nationals and 8 foreign nationals.
The Head of Public Relations of the Badung Police, Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, told reporters, “The implementation of large-scale operations in the North Kuta area is a concrete step to reduce the number of traffic violations, especially the use of brong exhausts which are very disturbing to the public.”
He added, “Going forward, the Badung Police will continue to intensify similar activities on a regular and ongoing basis. Both through large-scale operations and enhanced routine activities or KRYD. However, implementation will be adjusted to the situation and needs on the ground. It is possible that they will be carried out daily at certain points and times deemed prone to violations.”
Agencies in Bali are actively seeking to take a proactive approach to eliminating crime on the island. Last week, the new Dharma Dewata Immigration Task Force was deployed across the island to crack down on foreigners breaking the law and disturbing the peace on the island.
At the inauguration ceremony held in Denpasar, the Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, shared, “This is a concrete step to maintain stability and security in Bali as Indonesia’s leading tourist destination.”
Adding “We will continue to intensify surveillance operations, both through routine patrols at the regional level and nationally, to maintain security stability and increase public trust in Immigration.”

He also confirmed that Indonesian Immigration has created a team of Village Guidance Immigration Officers (PIMPASA) in Bali who will play a frontline role in prevention through education and gathering information on the presence of foreigners in each community.
The event was also attended by Governor Wayan Koster, who told the team, “This affirmation is necessary because in recent times, incidents have frequently occurred that have disturbed the comfort and security of Bali, related to the existence and existence of tourism in Bali, with foreign nationals as the perpetrators.”

Bali Police have also confirmed that they will be working to crack down on crime perpetrated by both foreign nationals and Indonesian citizens in top tourism resorts and throughout the province.
Following increased travel safety warnings from the South Korean Embassy, Bali Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring safety for all in Bali.
The team confirmed that it has recorded a 23% decrease in criminal cases involving foreign nationals from January to April 2026, compared to the same period last year.

In a written statement, Bali Police explained, “Polda Bali remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of all visitors. Through enhanced patrols (KRYD) and a priority focus on public security, we are dedicated to maintaining the “Island of the Gods” as a peaceful destination for the world to enjoy.
