21-year-old, Kadek Edi from Jembrana has been detained by police for illegal street racing in Jembrana on Sunday evening (29/8).
The Head of the Jembrana Police Department, Iptu I Putu Budi Santika confirmed that Kadek Edi was detained along with two other illegal street racers with initial BSW (aged 19) and KA (aged 17) from Mendoyo Sub-district, Jembrana. The suspects were arrested during an inspection being conducted by authorities from the Jembrana police department on Sunday (29/8) as a response to reports from locals regarding the illegal street racing around Yeh Kuning Beach, Jembrana.
When the officers arrived at the location around 6:00pm, the group of street racers immediately attempted to flee, including Kadek Edi who brought his wife to the event. As he started taking off on his motorbike, he popped a wheelie in front of the police, his wife fell off the bike and he left behind at the scene. “When he did a wheelie in front of us, he decided to leave his wife that he had just married two months ago as she was unable to hold on to her husband as he sped off.” Iptu Santika said on Monday (30/8).
The officers continued their pursuit until they finally managed to capture Kadek Edi in an area between the Mendoyo and the Jembrana Sub-district. Iptu Santika admitted that many people around the Yeh Kuning Beach were often annoyed by the illegal street racing, especially with their loud exhaust systems. Apart from detaining the three suspects, the officers also seized 3 custom motorbikes from the scene.
