Officials from the Buleleng Health Agency plan to open the Covid-19 vaccine booster program to residents who are 18 years old and above.

The Head of Buleleng Health Agency, Dr. Sucipto, confirmed that he plans to open the current vaccine booster program targeting senior citizens to regular citizens above 18 years old. This will happen once the Buleleng Health Agency receives enough Covid-19 vaccines from the government.

However, Sucipto admitted that he has struggled to distribute the boosters to senior citizens as most haven’t received the official invitation through their PeduliLindungi app.

He then decided to distribute the booster even to those who have yet to receive the official invitation and issue the vaccine certificate manually to the recipients. “

“Senior citizens who haven’t received the official invitation on their apps will be manually registered at our vaccination site. We will input their data once they receive the official ticket,” Dr. Sucipto said on Monday morning (17/1).

He explained that most of the people who received an invitation were those who had received the Sinovac vaccine from March to May 2020.

In the meantime, officials only distribute the booster shot at the Buleleng Health Agency’s Office. This will be the set-up until they have enough vaccines to open other vaccination sites across the region. Buleleng has just received an additional 1,500 vials of the booster, which is just enough to vaccinate 30,000 residents in Buleleng.

@Randy, such assumption isn’t correct. There is a need for more effective vaccines against new Covid variant, such new vaccines aren’t available now, perhaps in April this year or later. - Maybe this year pandemic over and endemic starts.
