A 22-year-old woman named Ni Putu Melina and her family decided to push through with her wedding procession on Wednesday (12/1) despite her fiance backing out two days prior. Melina and her family refused to cancel the ceremony as they had already finished all the wedding preparations for their pregnant daughter.

In the video, Melina showed her wedding ring while wearing a traditional Balinese outfit and accessories. Melina’s father, I Ketut Suardika confirmed, that the viral video was his daughter’s wedding ceremony.

Melina’s partner suddenly canceled the wedding as he refused to stay in Melina’s family house after the wedding.

“We have no idea what happened to him and why he refused to live in our house when everything has been prepared for. He needs to learn about responsibility, so I don’t mind if the video went viral,” Suardika said on Sunday (16/1).

Suardika explained that Melina’s partner admitted that his parents had already refused the wedding as they disagreed with the idea of Nyentana, a Balinese tradition where the man will leave his parents’ house and stay in his wife’s house once they’re married.

“We have accepted this reality, and I don’t want to force that man to marry my daughter. Thankfully, we’re standing strong as we face this issue,” Suardika concluded.
