Share The Article

To many Singaporeans, Bali brings to mind beautiful beaches, resorts nestled in padi fields and streets lined with hipster cafes. But for Desmond Tan, the popular holiday destination now holds another memory for him: It was where he recently got robbed.

The Mediacorp actor flew to the island on Mar 4 (Wed) to attend a friend’s wedding, according to Lianhe Zaobao. But on Friday, he posted on Instagram that he had been robbed.

“I’m robbed in Bali and my handphone is stolen. The phone is switched off. JUST IN CASE, if any of you receive any unusual messages from me. Please ignore it and keep me posted. P.S. Don’t worry, I’m safe and not harmed. P.P.S. I’m using my friend’s phone for this post, in case you are wondering.”

Tan’s agency confirmed that nothing else, other than his handphone, was taken.

Prior to the robbery, the actor had posted on Instagram a picture of him holding onto a coconut, with the caption: “Guard your coconut!”. Perhaps the universe was trying to tell him something when he made that post.
