A Man Has Died After Getting Assaulted By His Brother In Bali

A 75-year-old man named Ketut Kerti has died after getting assaulted by his brother Wayan Tis (aged 73) at their home in Tejakula, Buleleng.

Officials of the Penuktukan village, I Gede Maduarta confirmed that he was informed by Kerti’s family on Tuesday morning about the incident that occurred at their house. “One of the family members made a phone call on Tuesday morning around 7:30am, the victim was already unconscious when I arrived at the scene.” Maduarta said According to the information from the witness, the incident occurred when the suspect and the victim had an argument on Tuesday morning at 6:30am.

As the confrontation escalated, the suspect began assaulting his brother in front of his family. When Maduarta arrived at the scene, he immediately rushed the victim to the nearby clinic before he was referred to the Public Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. After several hours of being treated the victim was pronounced dead by the doctor, the cause being a severe head injury. Meanwhile the Head of the Tejakula Police Department, AKP IB Putu Astawa confirmed that the suspect was arrested on the same day of the incident.

 “During the interrogation, the suspect admitted that he had been arguing with his brother about inheritance issues.” AKP Astawa said. The suspect could potentially face 7 years of imprisonment to be held responsible for what he has done. Astawa also explained that the investigation must be conducted carefully as two of the witnesses are still considered as underage children. “We have been cooperating with the Social Agency as some of the witnesses are underage kids, so we must consider their psychological wellbeing as well.” AKP Astawa concluded.
