A Man Has Been Rescued After Attempting To Take His Own Life

A 44-year-old man has been rescued after attempting to take his own life in Denpasar.

The Head of the Denpasar Public Relations Officer, Iptu I Ketut Sukadi confirmed that the man was rushed to the hospital after attempting to commit suicide on Tuesday afternoon (13/7). “A villager spotted the man during his attempt to commit suicide on Jalan Sedap Malam, East Denpasar on Tuesday afternoon around 12:15pm.” Iptu Sukadi said on Tuesday (13/7).

According to information from the witness, the incident occurred when the witness was praying at his house that is located on Jalan Sedap Malam Gang IV Number 5, East Denpasar. Shortly after, the victim suddenly came into his house and attempted to hurt himself with a knife. Becoming panicked, the witness ran from the house and shouted for help to nearby villagers and reported the incident to the police.

Shortly after, officials from the Police Department and Indonesian Red Cross Organization (PMI) came to the scene and evacuated the man. “The man attempted to stab himself in the chest.” Iptu Sukadi added. Iptu Sukadi explained that according to the investigation, the man was struggling with his mental health prior to the incident. The man was rushed to the nearby hospital to receive medical attention.
