A Bali Police Officer Has Assaulted A Woman In Kuta

A 23-year-old woman named Maya has been assaulted by a police officer at a Karaoke Bar located on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai, Kuta.

The Head of the Denpasar Police Department, Kombes Pol Jansen Avitus Panjaitan confirmed that the case is still being investigated by the police department.. “There were 8 police officers when the incident occurred, and we’re trying to find a logical reason for why the officers were there as it’s considered unethical for police officers to visit that kind of place without any specific reason.” Kombes Pol Jansen said.

The incident occurred when the officer with initial Iptu E, picked up the victim from her place earlier in the afternoon on Tuesday (25/5) around 3:30pm and went to Maya’s work place at the Karaoke Bar. Everything went normal until Maya and Iptu E had an argument, resulting in Iptu E attempting to leave the location with his car around 8:00pm. But apparently Maya tried to stop the car, and shortly after Iptu E began to assault her in the parking area in front of multiple bystanders.

Once the security guard of the place managed to stop Iptu E from assaulting the woman, he continued to drive off and left the scene immediately. “The victim has decided not to file a lawsuit against Iptu E, and they managed to solve their issues together.” Kombes Pol Jansen concluded. However, Iptu and the other 7 police officers could possibly be sanctioned for visiting the Karaoke Bar without reasons related to their duty.
