Bali Officially Deports Two Yoga Teachers Who Were Illegally Working

Bali immigration officials have officially deported two yoga teachers who were detained on July 24th for illegally selling yoga classes for profit without a proper work visa.

40-year-old Albina Mukhamadullina and Rodion Antonkin both boarded Turkish airlines on Saturday to return them back to Russia. Both tested negative for Covid-19 by rapid test before departing.

The Russian couple had been detained on July 24th, after they were caught selling yoga classes to earn income. Under Bali’s strict immigration work rules, foreigners are not allowed work jobs that can take away from Bali locals or earn income while on the island without the proper visa.

The two Russians were holding paid meditation and Yoga activities at Art Villa in Ubud before they were detained. 

“We have deported these two Russian citizens and we have proposed them to be included in the list of Deterrence to the Directorate General of Immigration,” said I Made Widiantara, Head of Registration, Administration and Reporting of the Rudenim Denpasar.

Denpasar detention center officers escorted the Russian citizens to the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport where they successfully boarded the plane.
