The holiday season is just around the corner in Bali, and it looks like tourists heading to the island can look forward to more and more live music events. Bali may be best known for its sun, sea, and sand, but live music and world-class partying are helping to keep the destination as popular as ever.
From live DJ sets by world-class artists to independent festivals showcasing musical talent from just about every genre, there is so much for music lovers to explore in Bali.
Starting with the unique art and music of the Balinese culture itself, no trip to Bali would be complete without watching a cultural show accompanied by the unmistakable sound of a local Balinese orchestra.
For those who like their music loud and nights of partying long, look no further than Canggu this peak holiday season. Now home to the biggest beach club in the world, Atlas Beach Club, Canggu is the place to party in Bali right now.
In August, Atlas Beach Club will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a live set from Grammy-nominated rapper Tyga. Tickets and packages are on sale now for what is set to be one of the biggest parties of the whole year.
As Bali looks to diversify its tourism offering in a post-Covid era, leaders are keen to use the island’s strategic location to develop a booming marketplace for live music events, festivals, and all other kinds of international gatherings like conferences and summits.

In November, International superstars Coldplay will visit Jakarta, but Bali continues to attract a larger number of international headline acts than Indonesia’s capital city.
So far this year, Bali’s leading venues have welcomed the likes of Rufus Du Sol, Black Coffee, Calvin Harris, Xavier Rudd, Jason Derulo, NeYo, and so many more.
It’s not only pop sensations that are gracing Bali’s stages, but interest continues to grow in world music, jazz, folk, and devotional music.
Just this weekend, Ubud celebrated the return of the Ubud Folk Festival, and on the 28th-29th of July, Ubud Village Jazz Festival will open its doors in the island’s cultural capital.
Speaking at a panel discussion on Sunday, 4th June, the promoter of Ubud Village Jazz Festival, Anom Antida, shared a vision for the future of live music in Bali. Antida said, “We want to build festivals that are the pride of Bali and bring tourists on vacation to Bali to coincide with the festival.”
Bagus Mantra from Bali Rockin Blues Festival said that the increasing demand and interest in live music in Bali should be used as a platform for innovation.
He said music lovers and festival planners in Bali must “be genuine; it must be different from what is already on the market. We will create a trend.”
Mantra has a noteworthy point, Bali’s live music offering is already offering something very different from what other neighbouring countries and provinces are promoting.
This is largely down to the overwhelming amount of world-class entertainment venues in Bali.
Venues like Savaya in Uluwatu, Old Mans in Canggu, and Peninsula Island in Nusa Dua are consistently bringing in some of the biggest names in music and, with them, their loyal fans and followers.
With local entrepreneurs, event organizers and music lovers, as well as international business developers in Bali and the central government all keen to promote Bali as a world class live music destination, the best may just be yet to come.
As the holiday season approaches, tourists planning their visits to Bali can look forward to a series of unforgettable live music events.
From the live DJ’s ecstatic dances of Ubud to the sunset sessions of Uluwatu’s beach clubs, there is always music to be found.
The weekly programs of events hosted by in-house musicians at Bali’s popular beach clubs, restaurants, and bars are always worth exploring, whether staying in Seminyak, Kuta, Sanur, Legian, Canguu, or Nusa Dua.
More often than not, party lovers don’t need to be in Bali to buy their tickets to music events in advance.
Many beach clubs, nightclubs, live music venues, and festivals sell tickets online on platforms like Megatix, which can be used internationally.
This means you can plan your party nights before you fly to Bali and put that FOMO to rest!
