Airport Officials Decide To Increase Parking Fees Amid The Global Pandemic

Officials from Ngurah Rai International Airport have decided to raise their parking fees amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Stakeholder Relations Manager of Angkasa Pura I Ltd of the Ngurah Rai Airport, Taufan Yudhistira said that management decided to raise their parking fees as of Thursday (1/4). “This policy to raise our parking fees was finally issued after being postponed for over a year.” Yudhistira said on Thursday (8/4). He admitted that the airport had actually implemented this policy in April 2020, but then it was canceled due to the pandemic.

The new motorbike parking fee is $0.27 USD (IDR 4,000) for the first 12 hours, with $0.14 USD (IDR 2,000) being added for every additional hour. Meanwhile for the four wheelers, the new parking fee is $0.69 USD (IDR 10,000) for the first hour with $0.34 USD (IDR 5,000) being added for every additional hour. And for six wheelers, the new rate is $1.03 USD (IDR 15,000) for the first hour and $0.34 USD (IDR 5,000) being added for every additional hour after that.

“We already implemented this policy in April last year, but after considering factors from the impact of the Covid pandemic, we decided to cancel it. In January 2021, we were trying to find a better plan by implementing a discount from the previous rates.” Yudhisdira added. With these new rates, Yudhistira assured that he would optimize the services and facilities inside The Ngurah Rai Airport such as build a new parking building for motorbikes and increase parking capacity for vehicles.

Was blindsided by this last week when returning from Jakarta. The rate was 2x what I thought it would be and didn't have enough eMoney or cash on me and they don't accept Debit/Credit cards. Was very annoyed.

Well that is another way of stopping locals to travel and do business to bring money back into Bali.... Well thought out again.
