A 52-year-old woman named Ni Made Latri Yanti survived with only minor injuries after getting hit by a truck in Bali.
The Head of the Sukawati Road Accident Police Office, Iptu I Made Watha, confirmed that the incident that occurred on Jalan Raya Batubulan on Wednesday morning (16/3) caused damage to two street vendors and a motorbike. Meanwhile, the motorbike rider miraculously survived the fatal accident.
According to the truck driver named I Ketut Sutarka (aged 48) from Peguyangan, Denpasar, the incident occurred when he drove the truck belonging to the National Gas and Oil Corporation on Wednesday at 10:00 am.
Sutarka became sleepy while driving the vehicle and was shocked when he realized that the truck was already on the side of the road. “I don’t remember anything. The only thing I remember is the truck began crashing into the houses. I tried to hit the brake but it didn’t work,” Sutarka said.
Although the motorbike was completely damaged, Yanti survived with minor injuries. Incidentally, the properties of the two street vendors at the scene were also destroyed.
However, Sutarka admitted that he is committed to covering all the losses he had caused to the victims.
Iptu Watha hasn’t announced further details concerning the incident as the investigation is still underway. “We’ve received a report regarding this incident, so we will conduct further investigation,” Iptu Watha concluded.
