Hundreds of hotel reservations in Karangasem, Bali that were booked by MotoGP attendees have been canceled.
The Head of the Karangasem Hotel and Restaurant Association, I Wayan Kariasa, confirmed that over 500 hotel rooms that had been prepared to host MotoGP attendees had canceled reservations.
The visitors decided to stay in Lombok island instead, where the international race event will be held from March 18 to 20.
“When they were scheduled to give the deposit, they didn’t make any payment to the hotels,” Kariasa said.
Prior to the mass cancelation, 500 hotel rooms and fast boats were prepared to accommodate hundreds of MotoGP supporters who had planned to stay in Karangasem during the event.
200 of the 500 rooms had been pre-booked by domestic travelers who planned to stay in Karangasem. Unfortunately, several days before the start of the event, all those travelers failed to complete their payment and decided to book their accommodation in Lombok.
“The travelers decided to stay Lombok instead of Bali because it’s closer to the venue and they still have over 2,600 hotel rooms available,” Kariasa concluded.
