The Traffic Officer from Bali Police Department, Kombes Pol Indra said that after investigating the video that went viral yesterday, the officer finally identified the driver based on the registration number that was seen on the video. “We identified the driver and her address based on the registration number, so we immediately visited her house and asked for her clarification,” said Indra on Monday (29/3).

During the interrogation, Yanti admitted that she didn’t mean to hinder the fire truck when she was tail-gated while driving on Jalan Teuku Umar, Denpasar on that day. “We also called the officials from the firefighter office to meet this person. And according to our interrogation with Yanti, she admitted that it wasn’t intentional” Indra added. Yanti said that she was panic when the fire truck driving right behind her with a loud siren and people shouting at her at the same time.

Kombes Pol Indra explained that it was the first time for Yanti to have that kind of experience. He also said that Yanti has violated Article 134 Constitution Number 22 Year 2009 about prioritizing certain types of vehicles on the road such as ambulance, fire truck and VVIP.

Despite her violation, the officer decided to not penalize the driver. “We decided to give an educational approach instead, in order to give her a better understanding about our traffic regulation” Kombes Pol Indra concluded.

This is not a police car chase therefore the best thing she could have done to pull aside. Fire trucks, police and anbulance on duty to save people so let them pass. Everybody is always in a hurry and oblivious to his or her surroundings.

Furthermore painted crosswalks actually mean something and not some kind of art on the road. Pedestrians should be respected. It's a given mindset elsewhere that pedestrians have the right away. Here not so much. Sighs.
