The General Manager of Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, has spoken to reporters about how the 12-day holiday period has been running so far.

The 2025 Eid Integrated Transportation Post at Bali Airport is a 12-day heightened surveillance, security, and operational mission to ensure the smooth running of Indonesia’s biggest public holiday period. Over the Lebaran holiday so far Bali Airport has served an average of 57,000 passengers per day.

Shahab told reporters “In total, passenger traffic on April 1, 2025, was recorded at 62,588 people, a slight decrease of 0.2 percent compared to the same period in 2024, which reached 62,681 passengers.”

He added, “The highest passenger service during the Integrated Eid Transportation Post period was recorded on March 28 with 73,550 passengers, March 27 with 68,203 passengers, and March 31 with 67,975 passengers.”

The busiest flight routes during the Lebaran holiday are Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Surabaya, and Perth, Australia.

As the height of the inbound tourist traffic has passed, leaders are now looking to the outbound movement of tourists.

Teams at Mengwi Bus Terminal, who are working in coordination with teams at Gilimanuk Harbour are predicting that the busiest on Bali’s roads will be 6th April 2025.

The Manager of Mengwi Bus Terminal, Ardani Nirwesti, told reporters “We estimate the peak of passenger returns on D+6 or April 6.”

He explained that 105 bus fleets have been in operation over the Lebaran period, operating services between central Bali and East Java.

On average 3,000 passengers pass through Mengwi Bus Terminal every day, and Nirwesti confirmed that he and his teams have conducted inspections of vehicles including the function of lights, tyres, roadworthiness tests, safety equipment documents, and medical examinations of bus crews before they are on duty.

Tourists traveling overland between West Bali and East Java can expect to see additional security staff at Gilimanuk Harbour over the coming days, and plenty more traffic officers across the island’s top resorts and busiest highways too.

He shared ”We are committed to providing a sense of security and comfort for the community, especially during the Lebaran return flow period. Inspections will be carried out strictly, but remain humane.”

Police will be working with sniffer dogs, and conducting vehicle inspections to ensure that all road users are moving within the law.

Speaking separately the Head of Public Relations Ketapang-Gilimanuk Port, Roodhin Firmana, explained that teams are ready to support the surge of passengers who will be traveling though the ports between 4th April and 6th April, especially those driving private vehicles.

Firmana shared “Yes, there is an increase in Bali, especially private cars. It is likely that people are on vacation because now there is still joint leave for Eid. It is possible that some are returning early. But the number is not that many. The situation is still smooth so far.”

Over the weekend and into Monday 6th April, tourists must leave extra time to travel throughout Bali, especially when traveling to major transportation hubs such as Bali Airport, Gilimanuk Harbour, Sanur Port, Padangbai Port, and Serangan Port.
