Thousands of vehicles have been stuck at Gilimanuk Port due to a rally against the current traffic regulations.

“People were stuck. They couldn’t get in or out of the island due to the closure,” Sastrawan said on Monday.

The rally was initiated by truck drivers, as many of them were unhappy with the traffic policy that regulates the capacity of vehicles while transporting cargo into the island.

Authorities established this policy as many vehicles have been carrying cargo beyond their capacity. This can cause accidents on the road and overloading on the sea.

Surprisingly, the affected drivers strongly protested against this policy as it might disrupt their distribution targets.

However, the Head of Gilimanuk Coastal Police Office, Kompol I Gusti Putu Dharmanatha, said that the ferry port was back to normal after an hour.

“There was a bit of congestion in the Gilimanuk port area, but it wasn’t that bad. Operations are already back to normal,” he concluded.
