A local man named I Nyoman Alit (a.k.a Bolot) from Denpasar has been shot by Bali Police for resisting arrest.
An officer from Denpasar Criminal Investigation Bureau confirmed that the suspect was arrested Friday evening (7/5) on Jalan Raya Kampus Unud in Jimbaran. The police began their investigation after receiving a report from a woman named Irma from Semarang, Central Java. “The victim filed a report to the police after losing some cash and cell phone from her house.” said the officer on Sunday (9/5).
The incident occured when Irma came back to her house located in West Denpasar after going to the fresh market on Monday afternoon (22/2) around 1:00pm. When she arrived, Irma put her bag and her cellphone on the table and left them to take a shower. Unfortunately, Irma forgot to lock her front door. “As a result, she lost her cellphone and USD 690 (IDR 10 million) cash.” the officer added. Shortly after when the victim realized that she lost her belongings, she immediately filed a report to the police department. After investigating the case for a couple of months, the officers finally found and arrested the suspect who had been previously charged and jailed for a similar offence.
The suspect was shot in both legs for resisting arrest and was then transported to the Bhayangkara Police Hospital for medical attention. “During the interrogation, the suspect admitted that he has done similar activities in 4 different places in Bali. He is now being detained along with his motorbike and cellphone as evidence.” said the Head of Denpasar Police Department, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan.
