Rainy Season Officially Over In Bali As Tourists Celebrate Return Of Sunshine

Share The Article

The rainy season is officially over in Bali. As the island celebrates Galungan Day, the rainclouds have officially been sent on their way for another year, and sunshine will prevail…in theory!

As the dry season kicks off in Bali, the island is also gearing up for the high season for tourism.

This monsoon season has gone down in history as one of the most devastating in recent memory. With dozens of people killed and many more injured as a result of landslides, falling trees, and road collisions prompted by bad weather, the island is breathing a gentle sigh of relief that the worst of the rains are behind us.

During monsoon season, the risk of natural disasters increases, as does the tide upon tide of plastic waste and ocean debris that wash up onto the shores of the island’s most famous beaches.

In areas like Jimbaran and Kuta, plastic waste washes up on the shoreline weekly from November through to mid-April, and at the height of the rainy season, often with every changing tide.

With sunnier times ahead, tourists on the island can look forward to consistently bright skies, hotter temperatures, and the ability to create travel itineraries that don’t factor in a rainy day plan.

The Head of Bali Climatology Station Aminudin Al Roniri, eplxained how the Bali Climatology Station decides when they mark the beginning of dry season in the province.

Roniri xplaine that there are 20 seaonsal zones mapped out across Bali, when ten of these have entered the dry season then the seasons are deemed to have changed. 10 seasonal zones, referred to by the Bali Climatology Station as ZOMs will have entered dry seasons by the end of April, the remaining zones are expected to see the start of dry season in the first weeks of May.

Roniri confirmed that the peaks of the dry seasons, and therefore the hottest part of the year, are predicted to fall in July and August in 2025, as per usual. Tourists planning their vacations in Bali during this time should plan ahead to manage their sun exposure and time in the heat accordingly.

Every year, dozens of tourists in Bali are taken to local medical clinics or even admitted into the hospital due to dehydration, serious sunburn, and heatstroke.

Having fun in the sun and enjoying the heat responsibly is the name of the game in Bali. In fact, dehydration, serious sunburn, and heatstroke, all of which require hospital treatment and symptoms of which can appear suddenly, are just another reason why tourists travelling to Bali must take out a fully comprehensive travel insurance policy before they go on vacation.

Just last week, popular Australian-based travel insurance provider Southern Cross Travel Insurance revealed to reporters that travel insurance claims for tourists are increasing.

The Chief Customer Officer for Southern Cross Travel Insurance, Jess Strange, told reporters, “The demand from Australians for Bali breaks over the summer has been on the rise since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Adding “Since the 2022/23 summer holidays, we’ve seen a 43 percent increase in the number of Australian policies bought for trips to Bali.”

Strange noted, “Interest in traveling to the beautiful island has continued to grow during the summer of 2024/25.”

For Southern Cross Travel Insurance, as just one provider, medical and travel insurance claims from tourists in Bali account for 16% of all claims the company receives, marking a 50% year-over-year increase.

Tourists traveling to Bali must take out a fully comprehensive travel and health insurance policy and be sure to read the full policy documents before departing for vacation.

Tourists should be extra mindful to check what popular adventure activities, such as snorkelling, ATV riding, and surfing, are included in the policy coverage.
