Kafe 8146 in Mas Village Ubud has been closed down by officers after hosting a party without following legally required health protocols.

The Head of Gianyar Civil Service Unit, Made Watha ordered shut down of the cafe after cafe owners violated government regulations by facilitating a massive crowd on Saturday evening (19/12). The crowd was dispersed after police received a report from nearby residents.

“We arrived at the location with the officers from Ubud Police Department for an inspection” said Made Watha during an interview on Monday (21/12).

When the officers arrived at the location, they immediately heard loud music and saw many people gathered without wearing face masks, neglecting physical distancing rules.

Watha addressed that some hand washing stations were provided, but he could not tolerate the large crowd that made it impossible to maintain a safe distance.

The cafe has been temporarily closed down for disobeying health and safety protocols. “They operated the cafe without having permission for large gatherings, at the same time the music was too loud and we received complaints from nearby residents” Made Watha added.
