Man Captured In Bali For Attempting To Steal Bag Of Canadian Woman

A 24-year-old man named Komang Manik from Tianyar, Karangasem has been arrested after snatching a purse from a Canadian expat in Canggu.

The local man was captured by the villagers after attempting to snatch a purse from a Canadian woman named Nicole (aged 22) in front of a café that is located on Jalan Batu Bolong, Canggu on Sunday evening (21/11) at around 10:00pm.

“The nearby villagers in that area heard a loud collision on the street, and saw both the suspect and the victim were already laying on the road.” said the officer from North Kuta Police Department on Tuesday (23/11).

According to information from witnesses, the incident occurred when the victim rode her motorbike alone on Sunday evening. The suspect who rode a Honda PCX approached the victim and attempted to snatch the victim’s purse. As Nicole was determined to keep her purse, both of them finally fell from their motorbikes, causing the victim to suffer minor injuries in the accident.

Nearby villagers who heard the incident, immediately helped the victim as well as captured the suspect when he attempted to flee. “Our officers have arrested the alleged bag snatcher and will continue our investigation.” the officer added.

Meanwhile the Head of North Kuta Police Department, AKP Putu Diah Kurniawandari hasn’t announced an official statement in regards of this case.
