Badung Bali Will Begin Vaccinating Elementary School Students By January

The Badung regional government will start distributing Covid-19 vaccines to elementary school students by January 2022.

During the current Covid-19 vaccination program that has been running in the Badung region, Badung Health Agency plans to start distributing the vaccine to the children from the age of 6 to 11 years old by January 2022. They hope to achieve herd immunity from Covid-19 among the children in Badung, as most of the schools have partially reopened for in-person learning.

The Head of Badung Health Agency, Dr. Nyoman Gunarta confirmed that as part of the preparation stage of this program, government officials have been collecting the data and keep upgrading their information in regards of their vaccination targets. “We plan to start this program by January next year, but we’re still upgrading our data until the end of this year.” Dr. Gunarta said on Wednesday (24/11).

Additionally, Gunarta explained that children who will turn 6 years old by December will be classified as the vaccination target in this program. Meanwhile according to the data from Badung Covid-19 Handling Task Force, 98% of the vaccination target in Badung region have completed the second dose of Covid-19 vaccination.

426,508 out of 435,188 residents in Badung that consist of 8,147 medical workers, 52,223 public officials, 178,039 public residents, 34,452 senior citizens, 152,744 vulnerable residents and 53,126 children (aged 12-17) have been fully vaccination against Covid-19 as of Tuesday (23/11).
