Man Arrested In Bali After Breaking Into A Villa And Stealing Thousands Of Dollars

A local man named Rudi Hartono from Jember, East Java has been arrested for breaking into a villa and stealing large amounts of cash.

The Head of  Badung Public Relations Officer, Iptu Ketut Sudana confirmed that the suspect was arrested after stealing a safety deposit box from a villa that is located on Jalan Raya Bumbak Kerobokan, North Kuta. “After collecting information from several sources, we finally managed to identify the suspect and arrested him at his workplace in Badung.” Iptu Sudana said on Wednesday (27/10).

Prior to the incident, the victim that was identified as Oleksadr Mashkovtsev (aged 23) from Ukraine left his villa on Wednesday morning (6/10) and went to Legian Beach with his girlfriend to go surfing. Later in the afternoon when he came back to the villa, he was surprised when realizing that somebody had managed to break into his property and steal some of his valuables.  

“The victim became suspicious after noticing that his villa was already unlocked when he arrived. When he checked his room, he realized that somebody broke into his villa and managed to steal a safety deposit box along with a total of USD 1,500 (IDR 24,3 million) cash, an international driving license, a credit card, passport and a visa.” Iptu Sudana added.

Shortly after, the victim decided to file a report to the Badung Police Department in regards to the incident. A few weeks later, the suspect was arrested at a construction site that is located on Jalan Umalas Lestari Kerobokan, North Kuta on Saturday (23/10). “The suspect has been detained along with evidence such as a safety deposit box, a crowbar, a bag, and a small amount of cash. The investigation is still underway.” Iptu Sudana concluded.
