Man Arrested For Bag Snatching And Causing Serious Injury In Bali

A 31-year-old man named Rachmat Hidayat has been arrested for snatching a bag from a woman in Dalung, North Kuta.

The Bali Criminal Investigation Bureau Director, Kombes Pol Ary Satriyan, confirmed that they arrested the suspect on Thursday (16/12) at 2:30 am from his place in Jalan Bung Tomo X, North Denpasar. He was brought in for snatching a bag from a victim, identified as Ni Putu Ayi Aditya Wedayanti (age 27).

According to a verified source, the incident occurred when the victim rode her motorbike along Jalan Mudutaki, Dalung, on Saturday (11/12) at around 12:30 am.

Suddenly, the suspect approached the victim with his motorbike and snatched her bag, causing her to lose her balance and fall off her motorbike. When the suspect had the bag, he immediately drove off, leaving the victim seriously injured.

M. Heilmi Alo Sugianto (age 21) saw the injured victim and immediately rushed her to Wangaya hospital. He also called Aditya Wilyantara, the victim’s relative.

A report was filed to the police on December 15th, and they managed to arrest the suspect the day after. “Both of the victim’s legs were fractured. She also lost her cellphone, cash, and important documents inside her bag,'” said an officer.

During the interrogation, the suspect admitted that he had done something similar in the Canggu area, where he snatched a bag from a woman on October 23rd 2021, at around 11:00 pm.

“An investigation is still underway as we suspect that this man is also an ATM skimmer specialist,” the officer concluded.

Bag snatcher? This turd is a prime example of why ‘ caning’ should be an first appropriate punishment for low life like this. I might limit the number of strokes to 100 a day….but no limit over a life sentence.
