Impressive Vintage Cars Collection Welcomes Tourists To Bali Airport

Tourists arriving into Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport have an exciting new welcome to enjoy. Every seasons Bali Airport puts on different themed events for passengers and until 31st August 2025 passengers can enjoy a display of classic and vintage cards.

As part of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day Celebrations, Bali Airport in collaboration with Kebon Vintage Cars and InJourney Airports, is holding a classic car exhibition in the arrivals area of the domestic terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. 

Speaking to reporters, the owner of Kebon Vintage Cars, Jos Dharmawan, explains that the thirteen cars on display come from various eras, from before the war, the independence era, to the 1990s. He shared, “These vintage cars were present and on the Indonesian market during their respective eras as historical evidence. We’re showcasing cars from 1924 (Dodge Brother), the independence era, the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and even the 1990s.”

Dharmawan shared his pride at being invited to display his car collection to welcome visitors to the island and to emphasize the Balinese spirit of celebrating independence. He noted, “All these vehicles have played a role in the journey towards independence and now towards a more advanced Indonesia.”

With more than 10,000 people traveling through the domestic airport terminals every day, in addition to more than 30,000 via the international terminals, there is an opportunity for tens of thousands of passengers to view this incredible collection of vintage vehicles.

Dharmawan share,d “The motivation is to welcome guests from outside Bali and remind them that independence is celebrated in Bali too.”

Since its opening, the exhibition has received a positive response from visitors and staff. Many passengers have come to take photos posed with the timelessly stylish vehicles, examine the classic cars up close, and even ask questions about the classic cars on display. 

Dharmawan confirmed, “This exhibition is also open to the public. So, even non-passengers can come to the airport to see it.”

This is the first exhibition of its kind to be hosted at Bali Airport, and teams have not ruled out hosting more exhibitions and displays in the future following the success of the classic cars. It is not only the classic cars that are on show as part of the ongoing 80th Independence Day celebrations.

From 5pm – 7pm every day outside the front of the domestic airport terminal, in for of the big ‘Bali’ photo station passengers and non-passengers are welcome to enjoy live kecak performacens and even a live music performances from Westside Vinyl DeeJays, and The Hydrant Band.

Bali Airport is always working to improve its services to tourists and to ensure that safety and comfort is a top priority. New changes have helped improve security and reduce queue times for passengers departing from the airport.

Luggage entering the Bali Airport terminal buildings no longer needs to be scanned at the entrance, instead, checked luggage is now scanned at flight check-in desks and cabin luggage continues to be checked at security.

The General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, told reporters “We assess that with the implementation of this system, the inspection of people and checked baggage becomes more effective, but while maintaining full aspects of flight security. What is also important is that the passenger travel time becomes shorter.”

Bali Airport is not only on a mission to make the airport experience more enjoyable and safer for passengers but more accessible and inclusive too.

While seasonal entertainment and campaigns are on offer throughout the airport complex, new and ever-improving accessibility and inclusivity elements are available too.

Accessibility features, including priority chairs, wheelchair services, accessible bathrooms, a dedicated Special Needs Counter, and dedicated drop-off and pick-up zones for those with accessibility needs, are all available.

The 1924 Dodge Brothers is Vintage.

Vintage cars are those manufactured between 1918/9 and 1930. Cars prior to this are Antique. There is also post-Vintage which covers 1931 to 1939

In Australia cars over 25 years old are considered classic.
