Father And Sons Will Face 9 Years Imprisonment For Assaulting Man With Mental Health Disorder In Bali

Bali Police Officers have arrested a family of three after assaulting a man who is suffering from mental health disorders in Selemadeg, Tabanan.

The Head of Selemadeg Police Department, Kompol I Kadek Ardika confirmed that three men who have been identified as a 57-year-old man named Pan Restu, a 34-year-old I Wayan Restu Diarta and a 28-year-old I Made Rai from Wanagiri Kauh Village were arrested after assaulting a 46-year-old man with mental health issues and causing him serious injury.

“We immediately detained the three suspects after receiving a report regarding the incident that occurred on Tuesday evening (1/6) around 7:00pm.” Kompol Ardika said. Prior to the incident, The man who has been suffering from some mental health challenges began to throw rocks at the suspects’ house that evening. After knowing that the man threw rocks at their house, the suspects attempted to warn him to stop but unfortunately the man kept on taunting them.

The situation escalated quickly and suspects began to assault the man, causing him to suffer from serious injuries to his face and a fractured leg. “Despite knowing that the man was once treated at a mental hospital for his depression, the suspects didn’t appear to care and kept assaulting the man.” Kompol Ardika added. All three suspects are now being detained and will possibly face 9 years of imprisonment for violating Article 170 Number (2) from the Book of the Criminal Constitutions.
