Expat Who Assaulted His Local Girlfriend In Bali Has Been Arrested

A 26-year-old man named Koffe Christian Tao (a.k.a Harry) from Nigeria has been arrested after a month of investigation.

The Head of the North Kuta Police Department, Iptu Made Purwantara confirmed that the suspect who previously assaulted and extorted his ex-girlfriend in Canggu was arrested from a house in South Kuta on Friday (24/9). “The suspect was arrested from his hiding place that is located on Jalan Pura Pemecutan, Ungasan South Kuta on Friday, along with some stolen items.” Iptu Purwantara said on Saturday (25/9).

As The Bali Sun previously reported, a victim named Berlian Maharani Sahertian (aged 40) from Bandung, West Java has filed a report to the police department after being assaulted and also extorted by the suspect on Friday (28/8) in the Canggu area. During the arrest, the officers also seized several valuable items from the suspect that he allegedly received from illegal activities in Bali.

“We seized multiple valuables such as 4 cellphones, 3 watches, a laptop and 2 bags full of jewelry when he was arrested.” Iptu Purwantara added. Meanwhile, the victim assured that she would continue to file a lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend to have him held responsible for what he has done to her. The suspect has been detained at the North Kuta police department as an investigation to find a motive behind his illegal activity is still underway.
