Elderly Man Takes His Own Life After Allegedly Being Depressed For Getting Covid

A senior citizen named I Made Warna (Aged 80) has decided to end his life by jumping into a well 17 meters in depth after allegedly being depressed from contracting covid.

The Head of the Badung Public Relations Police Officer, Iptu Ketut Gede Oka Bawa confirmed that Warna has died after committing suicide by jumping into a well that located next to his house in Blahkiuh Village, Abiansemal Badung on Tuesday (13/4) around 9:30pm. “According to information from some witnesses, Warna was depressed after getting confirmed positive with Covid-19.” Iptu Oka Bawa said.

After the incident, the officers gathered information from two witnesses named I Made Mayura (58) and I Nyoman Nuada (61) who live close to Warna’s house, and both of them explained that prior to his death, Warna has just got home after several days of being isolated in Mangusada Hospital on Tuesday (13/4). “After knowing that Warna was home from the hospital, Mayura and Nuada decided to visit him at his house that evening to give some medicine, but Warna didn’t respond when they both shouted his name.” Iptu Bawa added.

As suspicion arose they attempted to get inside his house and began to look for him. When they checked out the well next to Warna’s house, they noticed that the well cover was open. “When they looked inside the well with a flashlight, they found him floating lifeless, so they immediately called the police. Warna was known to have some health issues such as stomach disease, depression and Covid-19 prior to his death.” Iptu Bawa concluded. The body was evacuated by the Search and Rescue Team before being transported to the Mangusada Kapal Hospital by ambulance.
