Officials from the Denpasar city government have turned a 5-star hotel in Sanur into a Covid-19 quarantine facility.

As a response to the recent instruction from central government to accommodate all asymptomatic Covid-19 patients in Bali, the Denpasar Mayor, IGN Jaya Negara has decided to turn the 5-star hotel Grand Bali Beach Hotel in Sanur into a quarantine facility for asymptomatic Covid-19 patients. Grand Bali Beach Hotel was built when the first President of Indonesia, Soekarno was still ruling in the country, and is expected to accommodate around 250 Covid-19 patients during full operation.

“Based on those instructions, we decided to have a meeting with several different institutions and support this centralized quarantine program for asymptomatic Covid-19 patients in Denpasar.” Jaya Negara said during his inspection at the Grand Bali Beach Hotel in Sanur on Saturday (14/8). The central government through the Maritime and Investment Coordinator Minister, Luhut Binsar Panjdaitan claimed that a centralized quarantine program is believed to be a solution to prevent Covid-19 transmissions to surge through family clusters in Bali.

Apart from the Grand Bali Beach Hotel, Jaya Negara has also added other hotels and several government buildings to be used as the official quarantine facilities in the Denpasar area. Other than that, he also keeps optimizing the Testing, Tracing and Treatment (3T) Program as well as deploying more officials to implement this program. “We’ve been communicating with several institutions to check the availability of those hotels, managing food aid distribution to our residents as well as optimizing the 3T program. And we really hope that we can get a better handle on the Covid-19 transmissions in Denpasar properly through these efforts.” Jaya Negara concluded.

President Soekarno and president Tito of Yugoslavia was close friends. They would perhaps in today’s time together solve pandemic problem much faster. In 1970’s when in Yugoslavia was smallpox epidemic, the Yugoslav population of about twenty millions was vaccinated within few days.
