Bali’s Most Peaceful Destinations Are Easier To Find Than Tourists May Think

Share The Article

With so much to see and do in Bali, it’s easy to get caught in a bit of a whirlwind while on vacation.

Though the pace of life in Bali is usually a little more relaxed than the home lives of most holidaymakers, it’s easy to get caught in the trap of trying to see and do absolutely everything all in one trip.

It’s easy to forget that travel and vacations are just as much about finding peace and relaxation as they are about seeking grand adventures and adrenaline.

Bali’s most peaceful destinations can be found easily, though they are not always obvious. These destinations are not the most well-known and are hidden in plain sight. For tourists seeking to see a less visited side of Bali and feel more relaxed and restored, choosing the peaceful path is definitely the right one.

Bukit Asah is a little-known viewpoint in Bugbug Village in Karangasem Regency that offers stunning views of the Bali Sea. Karanagsem Regency offers a wealth of hidden gems for tourists and those seeking to experience ‘the real Bali.’ Heading to destinations like Amed, Tulamben, and Candidasa for a beach vacation will certainly feel more peaceful than a getaway in Canggu, Uluwatu, or Jimbaran…generally speaking!

From the Bukit Asah viewpoint, tourists can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the green hills, steep cliffs, and glistening ocean. The team that manages the viewpoint keeps the spot in excellent condition and always goes above and beyond to make sure that visitors feel welcome and comfortable.

For peace-seeking tourists seeking to be closer to the ocean rather than viewing it from a hilltop, Nunggalan Beach is an excellent choice. It is one of the few true hidden gems on the Bukit. Located in Pecatu, just a stone’s throw from the thrumming heart of Uluwatu, Nunggalan Beach is a vast expanse of soft white sand, backed by rugged cliffs and overlooking the most perfect azure blue ocean.

The hike down to the beach is a relatively challenging 30-minute stroll, so good shoes and a bottle of water are essential, though it is worth the sweat!

Bring a picnic, bring your book, and enjoy the real blissful peace of an empty Bali beach. What makes it even better?! Visiting Nunggalan Beach is free!

Attractions that tick off the intersection of being both peaceful and free (or super affordable) are considered big winners around these parts. In Bali, it is easy to think that the most peaceful and relaxing experiences are offered in the most luxurious of environments.

While luxury is a worthy pursuit, for those traveling to Bali seeking the truly simple things in life, a visit to Nunggalan Beach and Bukit Asah is a guaranteed way to feel fulfilled.

An underrated, quiet, and calm destination in Bali is the Tianyar Savanah. This landscape had a little flurry of interest from international tourists a few years ago when photos from the area went viral on social media.

But in 2025, the Tianyar Savanah, coincidentally also in Karangasem Regency, sees very few tourists on a daily basis and offers tourists a unique landscape, a stunning view of Bali’s volcanic peaks, and the space to sit and meditate, contemplate, or even lie down and watch the clouds go by without the hustle and bustle of Bali’s tourist resorts and the daily life of locals.

And yes, you’ve guessed it, since Tianyar Savanah is a vast grassland, this is another free activity to add to the Bali bucket list.

Lake Batur is perhaps one of the most peaceful landscapes in Bali. While Kintamni, the town directly above the lake, is undergoing a period of growth and development, the lakeside has retained its atmosphere of quiet and calm.

Taking a stroll around the edge of Lake Batur, stopping to take some deep breaths, meditating, or journaling is a highly recommended way to indulge in the gentle calm of Bali’s true essence while on vacation.

"But in 2025, the Tianyar Savanah sees very few tourists on a daily basis."

Maybe because word is spreading that large areas of this "savanah" has been dug up due to intense sand mining.
