Bali’s Bukit Peninsula is in high demand with tourists right now.
Naturally, famous resorts like Uluwatu and Nusa Dua continue to attract crowds, but for those who step off the beaten path, the rewards are substantial.
The Bukit Peninsula can be viewed as six distinct areas, each of which offers tourists something different.

As Uluwatu-bound tourists start to explore more of what Ungasan has to offer, those seeking something a little different altogether are starting to explore Kutuh.
Kutuh has long been a popular destination among local visitors and domestic tourists. Though as destinations like Uluwatu and Nusa Dua continue to attract the larger international crowds, the area is starting to come on the radar for foreigners, too.
For beach lovers, Kutuh is arguably more impressive than its neighbouring areas, including Ungasan and Nusa Dua. While Ungasan is known for its cliff-backed beaches, Kutuh’s Gunung Paying Beach and Pandawa Beach are even more dramatic. While Nusa Dua’s pristine and still shorelines offer holidaymakers a taste of luxury, Kutuh’s beaches feel alive and offer some seriously impressive sunset views.
Kutuh is becoming increasingly recognized as Bali’s leading paragliding hub among tourists. Thanks to the high cliffs and coastal wind patterns, Kutuh makes for the perfect paragliding area, and tourists need not have any prior experience to enjoy the magic of flying over Bali. Tandem flights are widely available from reputable tour providers in the Kutuh area and must be booked in advance.
What sets Kutuh apart from destinations like Nusa Dua and Ungasan is that it is home to a wide range of accommodation options. While Nusa Dua is home to the highest concentration of 5-star stays on the island, so too is Ungasan, home to some of the most up-market properties on the island.

Travellers planning their Bali trips long in advance must be sure to get on the waitlist for what will soon be one of the Bukit Peninsula’s most lavish hotel properties.
World-renowned hotel group Mandarin Oriental is set to open a new resort in the heart of Kutuh in 2027. Construction remains underway, and revised plans show that the group is working on creating a resort and private residence that will be home to 110 rooms, suites, and villas.
In a press statement issued in July 2024, Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, shared some insights on what tourists can expect from the new luxury hotel.
