It may already be the 8th of June, but there is so much happening in Bali this month that there is still more than enough time to make it a month to remember.

This weekend, Penglipuran Village hosted its first Penglipuran Fun Run, which was a huge success; there is so much more to come!

Sports tourism is having a real moment in Bali right now. From padel to cliff diving, surfing to yoga, through to open water swimming and Hyrox, if you’re keen to get active, meet new people and experience Bali’s nature, this is the month to be in Bali.

One of the highlights of June 2026 in Bali will be the Bali Tourism Run at the UNESCO Jatiluwih Rice Terraces in Tabanan Regency.

The event is part of the 2026 Jatilwuih Festival that will take place from 20th to 22nd June. The festival is a celebration of the rice harvesting season, Balinese culture, and Balinese tourism.

The Manager of Jatiluwih Rice Terrace Tourism, Ketut ‘John’ Purna, spoke to reporters about what visitors can expect from the event.

He shared, “Because it coincides with the harvest season, visitors will be invited to experience the process of harvesting the farmers’ rice.” Tourists can expect farming demonstrations, cultural performances, live music from local musicians, and the Bali Tourism Run.

The Bali Tourism Run is a community fun run event that will take place around the world-famous rice terraces. The event is being hosted in partnership with the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA), and 2,000 people are expected to participate.

The run follows a 5 km trail along the dedicated track that runs around the tourist area of the rice terraces.

The Jatiluwih Festival also serves as part of the 100th anniversary of Bali tourism celebrations that will be held throughout the province over the next year.

Throughout the event, the Jatiluwih will deploy hundreds of security personnel, consisting of pecalang (traditional Balinese village chiefs) and local residents, to help keep the vibes high and everyone safe and comfortable.

Events for Jatiluwih Festival will be hosted throughout the 20th – 22nd June. Tickets are still available for tourists who want to participate in the Bali Tourism Run at the official website.

The run will take place on Sunday, 21st June, from 6 am to enjoy the run rising over the terraces.

Tourists looking to dive a little deeper into Balinese culture will be delighted to learn that Galungan Day will be honored on 17th June.

Galungan is a Balinese Hindu festival that is celebrated every 210 days according to the traditional Pawukon calendar. This means that sometimes it is observed twice a year, but in 2026, it’s being observed only once.

Galungan is a celebration of the triumph of good over evil, dharma over adharma.

Ceremonies are held in every community and home temple on Gaungan to welcome the ancestral spirits to earth, 10 days later, on Kuningan Day, another set of ceremonies is held to honour the spirits as they return to the cosmic realms.

Keep an eye out for the stunning Penjor, the tall bamboo poles that are erected outside every home and along every street in Bali, installed as an offering to the spirits.
