The Buleleng Covid-19 Handling Task Force has deployed police officers to pick up elementary school children and take them to vaccination sites in a bid to accelerate the Covid-19 vaccine distribution.
The Head of the Buleleng Police Department, AKBP Andrian Pramudianto, confirmed that this is part of the effort to accelerate the Covid-19 distribution for children 6 to 11 years old in the Buleleng area.
Police officers were asked to deploy their personnel, using their trucks, buses, and cars to pick up the children and take them to nearby vaccination sites.
As the leader of this operation, AKBP Pramudita stated that this program was initiated as many vaccination targets live in remote areas and have limited access to the vaccination sites.
“Many of the children in the Buleleng area who need to be vacicnated were located in remote areas. Therefore, we helped the government by providing proper vehicles to reach those targets,” AKBP Pramudita said.
Meanwhile, the Spokesman of Buleleng Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Ketut Suwarmawan, stated that a total of 74,130 children were targeted to receive the vaccine through this program.
“According to data as of Friday (17/12), 11,431 out of 74,130 (15.4%) have received the vaccine. We will keep on adding vaccination sites to optimize the distribution,” Suwarmawan concluded.
