Bali Police Arrested Local Man Who Assaulted An Expat

A 25-year-old local man named I Putu Arya Wijaya has been arrested by the police after previously assaulting a foreign national in seminyak.

As The Bali Sun previously reported Bali police officers had been trying to identify a local man who assaulted an Italian man named Frederico in front of his house in Seminyak on Saturday (24/4). The incident occured when the suspect became angry as he was unable to access the road that was blocked by a truck that Frederico hired to collect some rubbish from his house.

The argument between them escalated quickly as the suspect suddenly assaulted the expat, causing serious injury. The Head of the Kuta Criminal Investigation Bureau, Iptu Yudistira confirmed that the victim suffered serious injuries from the incident, including a bone fracture on his left leg. “According to information from the witness, the suspect who was riding a motorbike was mad when he couldn’t access his way due to the garbage truck that afternoon. So he became furious, attacked the expat and then left.” Iptu Yudistira said.

The suspect was finally identified from the registration number of his motorbike, and the police arrested Wijaya at his house in Seminyak Badung on Tuesday (27/4). During the interrogation, the suspect admitted that he became angry after being stuck there while waiting for the truck to move out of his. “The suspect is now being detained inside Badung Police Department to be held responsible for what he has done to the victim.” Iptu Yudistira concluded.
