Bali police have captured a serial bag snatcher that has admitted to robbing 16 foreigners at different locations around Canggu.
20-year-old, Muhamad Amin Sanae was finally arrested after snatching a bag from a Russian woman in Canggu, North Kuta.
Head of Badung Public Relation Officer, Iptu I Putu Oka Bawa said that the perpetrator had robbed at least 16 foreigners at different locations in the Canggu area.
“He admitted that he has done it 16 times in 16 different areas in Canggu, and had always been targeting foreigners during the attempts” Oka Bawa said.
The perpetrator was arrested after a 23-year-old Russian woman, Vladamorar filed a report at the North Kuta Police Department that she had been robbed near her guest house in Canggu.
The incident occured when Vladamorar was on her way from the beach back to her accomodation, the 4 Gadis Guest House in Canggu, North Kuta.
She was traveling with her friend on Thursday night Oct 22nd 2020 at around 8:00 pm.
When she was arrived in front of her accommodation, the perpetrator snatched her bag then fled on his motorbike.
“She has lost her Iphone X from the incident with an estimated value around USD $1,015 (IDR 15 million)” Oka Bawa added.
After launching an investigation and collecting information from CCTV footage, the officers began their search and finally arrested the perpetrator on Jalan Padang Linjong Canggu, North Kuta on Friday Oct 23rd 2020.
When the perpetrator was arrested, they found an iPhone X that belonged to the victim and a black Xiaomi Note Pro 9 in the trunk of his motorbike.
“We later detained him to Badung Police Department for further investigation to assure that there was nobody else that has been involved during the attempts” Oka Bawa concluded.
