The Secretary of the Buleleng Covid-19 Handling Task Force, I Gede Suyasa, confirmed that officials would penalize tourism businesses such as hotels that do not use the PeduliLindungi tracing app in their operations.

“Officials will penalize the businesses by temporarily closing down their operations or revoking their permits if necessary,” Suyasa said on Friday morning (31/12).

During an inspection on Friday, Suyasa has found out that most of the hotels located in the Buleleng region have not been utilizing the PeduliLindunig tracing app.

“When we inspected the hotels and public facilities, we didn’t see anybody who used the tracing app while checking in,” Suyasa added.

However, Suyasa still decided to use a friendly approach by giving initial warnings to the offenders. He reminded them to require the use of the tracing app from customers and staff to prevent Covid-19 transmission.

“Any person who gets a red or black alert while scanning with the PeduliLindungi app must be banned from entering the facility. We will penalize any offenders in accordance with the latest Home Affairs Minister’s Instruction about Prevention and Countermeasures of Omicron Transmission in Indonesia,” Suyasa concluded.

As a foreigner, I don't have access to the perdulilindungi app because I don't have a NIK. Getting such a NIK as a foreigner in Bali is more difficult than ramming soft-boiled spaghetti into a concrete wall.

And what if one doesn't have or simply doesn't want to carry around a so-called smartphone (which can be stolen by the way)?? Not everyone is a smartphone junkie!

Folks; No such bullshit in South-America, no mandatory smartphones, tracing-apps or whatsoever mandatory apps...

Asian smartphone junkies may even like this bullshit, one more reason for them to stare at their fancy device and to play with...

Complete bs. Have been traveling everywhere in Indonesia. No where anyone follows the rules, especially Jakarta is a complete mess. Fake pictures of politicians and police everywhere... Just acting and then move on. Bali uses peduli the most, by far, far more than Surabaya, Jakarta, Jogya, Batam is the worst. Everywhere the same, 20 locations, 1 uses peduli. Other pretend they do, but when check in, you're of the first few that day while the places is jammed with thousends... No one cares. And why should they. The horrible corrupt government in Jakarta is busy filling their pockets, earning on the pandemic. They don't care about anything, until it becomes their a way of income. Taking licences costs government money, they will never ever do that. However, trowing around fines for not using peduli, that would definitely be their choice. Even fine the places that actually doing it better.

@Luw, what a lie!! stop spreading misinformation and your statement is misleading. They take it seriously in Jakarta to enter any facility unlike in the wild West where people can still produce fake vaccination cards. I know so.

Then why are you in Indonesia then? Stop complaining and follow the rules. You are not above the law.
