Bali Government Official Dies From Covid-19

The Head of Denpasar Department of Agriculture, I Gede Ambara Putra (56), died on Friday (25/12) after testing positive with Covid-19.

Previously, another Denpasar government official, the Head of City Inspectorate, I.B. Sidharta had also died from Covid-19 related causes.

Gede Ambara has become the second victim of the virus after doctors announced the cause of death on Friday (25/12).

Along with Covid-19, Gede Ambara was diagnosed with heart and lung disease which contributed to the cause of death.

The Head of Denpasar Public Relation, I Dewa Gede Rai, confirmed receiving a call from the President Director of Wangaya Hospital this morning (26/12).

Ambara died after serving 12 years in the Denpasar Department of Agriculture.

“Additional government staff also tested positive with Covid-19 before, but thankfully they’ve recovered,” Gede Rau said.

Indonesian Doctors

Ambara was undergoing treatment in Wangaya Hospital since Dec 8th 2020, which initially starting off with a fever.

Since then, his health continued declining. When doctors found that his oxygen level was decreasing, they decided to move him to the ICU. Ambara reached critical condition on Dec 23rd 2020, and died on the 25th.

The government office is currently operating with 50 percent of the maximum capacity, to implement physical distancing and prevent new transmission.
