The online community was shocked as a local vendor, Jevan Willa, attempted to sell dog meat online.

Willa advertised dog meat for purchase at USD3.5 (IDR50,000).

Meanwhile, Bali has a set policy prohibiting the selling, purchasing, or consuming of dog meat.

Many were appalled by the man’s actions as they came across his advertisement online.

One social media user, (tio_russ) created a petition warranting action against Willa.

She offered USD 178 (IDR 2.5 million) for anyone who could provide information about the identity or location of the seller.

“Hello Bali Doglovers! Is there anyone who knows this guy? He’s selling dog’s meat. I’ll give IDR 2.5 million if you could give any information about this man. And don’t worry, we’ll keep your identity secret,” said Tio Russ on social media.

Upon receiving disapproval from the online community, Willa deleted his post.

Bali Governor previously issued a regulation to protect dogs in Bali from illegal meat trading after receiving numerous reports about poisoned and missing dogs.

According to data from Bali Animal Welfare Association, over 70 thousand dogs are killed each year in Bali to meet the demand of dog meat.

Many were not only stray dogs but also pets that were brutally killed for profit.
