After being imprisoned since 2014 for murdering her own mother, Heather was finally released from the Kerobokan Prison on Friday morning around 9:00 am, and was immediately transported to the Immigration detention house by Immigration officers. However, Heather was reluctant to respond to the media as she was constantly being questioned while she was being escorted to the vehicle.

Prior to the arrest, Heather and her boyfriend, Tommy Schaefer had murdered Heather’s mother, Sheilla Ann Von Weise Mack (aged 62) while they were staying at St. Regis Hotel that is located in Nusa Dua back on August 12th, 2014. Once they committed the crime, they put her body in a suitcase, called a taxi, then put the suitcase inside the trunk and attempted to leave the hotel by foot through the backside of the hotel area.

After two hours of waiting in the lobby, the taxi driver that was identified as Wirjana began to feel suspicious and decided to open the suitcase. He was surprised when realized that there was a human body inside his car and immediately reported the incident to the police. After collecting some information, officers finally arrested both suspects from Risata Hotel on August 13th, 2021.

During the interrogation, both suspects were upset as Heather’s mother disagreed about their relationship, although Heather was already pregnant. During the trial, Heather was charged with 10 years of imprisonment while Tommy was charged with 18 years of imprisonment to be held responsible for what they have done. Nevertheless, Heather had successfully delivered her child at the Sanglah Public Hospital on March 17th, 2015.

This was an open-and-shut case from the start! Only 7 years in a cruisey Bali prison for brutal accessory to murder! Signing rights for slain mother's fortune to be handed to a toddler here in Bali! Allowed to return to Bali in the future! Who really benefits from all this?

@Hashim, Her sentencing period was reduced to good behavior. She became very religious while incarcerated. Go figure!

@Leolia, That's not what I read from another source, the Indonesian government is seeking that she could never return to Indonesia. The child should be in her custody. No child remains behind without the mother under Indonesian law.

Such horrible crime can be done only once.
