A 25-year-old man named I Putu Eka Darsana almost died after getting beaten with a baseball bat in front of a minimarket in the Kuta area.

The Head of the Kuta Police Department, Kompol I Nyoman Gatra confirmed that a man who has been working as parking attendant at one of the minimarkets located on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai, Kuta almost lost his life from the incident that occurred on Monday evening (17/5). “The parking attendant was severely injured from an incident that occurred around 10:00pm that evening.” Kompol Gatra said on Monday (31/5). As far as he remembers, there were 2 young men who left the location with a motorbike after shopping at the minimarket. Shortly after, Darsana’s nephew spotted them riding back against the stream of traffic in order to go back to the minimarket. After seeing that, Darsana’s nephew warned them to stop as they could possibly cause a road accident. But apparently, the two young men were offended by the warning and had an argument with Darsana’s nephew. Shortly after, Darsana managed to de-escalate the situation and the two young men decided to leave the scene. A few moments after, the two young men came back to the location along with their father who has been identified as a 39-year-old man named AA Putu Paranatha (Gung Iik) and started assaulting Darsana with a baseball bat.

As a result, Darsana sustained serious injuries. “After the incident, the victim filed a report to the Kuta Police Department, and after days of investigation we finally arrested the suspect at his house that is located on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai Number 1, Kuta on Saturday (29/5).” Kompol Gatra concluded. During the interrogation, the suspect admitted he became angry when his children told him that they were getting in trouble by two men in front of the minimarket that evening, causing him to lose his temper and assault the victim.
