Domestic visitor Fajar Alam Semesta Wisrana has been reported missing after swimming at Dreamland Beach, Pecatu.
The Head of Bali Search and Rescue, Gede Darmada confirmed that a man who was swimming at Dreamland Beach with his three other friends on Sunday afternoon (12/9) was reported missing around 2:00pm. “The victim was allegedly dragged by the current while he was swimming on Dreamland Beach this afternoon, while his three other friends managed to reach the shore safely.” Darmada said on Sunday (12/9).
Prior to the incident, the victim who came to Bali with his friends from Surabaya, East Java decided to visit Dreamland Beach. Unfortunately, the victim, who allegedly was not aware of the dangers, swam too far from the shore. “According to information from witnesses, the victim swam further than his other friends, and when the waves got larger, he was unable to go back to the shore.” Darmada added.
After receiving the report, Darmada immediately deployed a team of 5 units to begin their search using jet sky. Darmada reminds all visitors to always comply with the instructions from the life guards around the beach area, so they can be made aware of the different characteristics of each beach they’re visiting in Bali. “Every beach has its own characteristics, so it’s better to always be careful and follow the guards’ instructions to avoid danger.” Darmada concluded. Officials decided to end the search as the visibility got worse and will continue the mission on Monday morning.
