Government Extends Partial Lockdown In Bali Once Again

The central government has extended the community-based partial lockdown in Bali and Java for another two weeks until March 22, 2021. The news comes as no surprise as the government works to control the transmission of the novel coronavirus with the hopes to soon reopen international borders.

The decision was stated in the Indonesian Home Affairs Ministry Number 5 Year 2021 which states that community-based activities will be limited in efforts to control the spread of COVID-19.

The central government is empowering the COVID-19 Handling Task Force in each village and city to supervise and enforce the rules. 

During the implementation, offices are only allowed to have 50 percent of their staff under strict prevention protocols while the rest have to work from home to avoid creating crowds in the office.

Essential businesses such as grocery stores are allowed to operate 100 percent by following the rules to limit their capacity and operational hours, while restaurants and cafes are allowed to receive 50 percent of their capacity for dine-in customers.

Meanwhile, the government allows food vendors to operate 24 hours but only provide dine-in service until 9:00 pm maximum.

Construction sites are allowed to operate 100 percent, and religious activity is only allowed to operate with 50 percent of its capacity.

The central government has highlighted that the partial lockdown if effectively reducing the spread of the virus especially as they begin the preparation stage of reopening international borders.
