The new regulation requiring domestic visitors to get tested before air travel has resulted in long queues at Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Hundreds of passengers wait to get tested everyday inside the airport. Meanwhile, some passengers missed their flights while waiting for their turn. The queue was formed as many people were waiting to get a number before filling out the registration form to get tested.
One passenger complained to authorities of a disorganized process after noticing that people that arrived later received registration before him on Sunday (20/12).

The environment had to be contained as passengers became upset and began screaming at authorities. Airport staff tried to calm them down and asked them to understand that an error could happen especially when hundreds of people arrive at the same time.
There were approximately 500 people waiting at the registration desk. The Public Relation of Angkasa Pura Ngurah Rai, Taufan Yudistira, said that it usually happens in the morning due to many people deciding to get tested at the airport facility instead of outside clinics at least one day earlier.

Taufan admitted that the regulations at other city destinations are not as strict as Bali’s. Many children under the age of 12 years old that were supposed to be free from testing were also joining the line. “The majority of the passengers were departing to Surabaya and Jakarta” Yudistira concluded.
