13 People Tested Positive With Covid-19 While Attending A Funeral Ceremony In Bali

13 people in Gunaksa Village, Dawan Sub-district Klungkung have been confirmed positive with Covid-19 while attending a funeral ceremony.

The Head of the Dawan Sub-district, I Dewa Gede Widiantara confirmed that over a dozen of his residents were infected with Covid-19 and currently undergoing self-isolation at their homes while the authorities keep tracing other people who previously had contact with the patients. “Among all the people who attended the funeral ceremony, 13 of them tested positive with Covid-19.” Widiantara said on Wednesday (14/7).

Widiantara explained that one of the people who tested positive with Covid-19 is a Senator of the Klungkung region. Prior to the infection, a funeral ceremony was scheduled, and the whole procession was planned to start from June to July 25th 2021. But authorities decided to postpone the ceremony as a new cluster was created within the process.

“After having a discussion with the officials, we decided to postpone the ceremony, and focus more on the recovery of those Covid-19 patients.” Widiantara added. Meanwhile the Regent of the Klungkung District, I Nyoman Suwirta said that Klungkung currently has 100 active Covid-19 cases, where 27 of them are being treated at several different hospitals in Klungkung while the rest are undergoing quarantine at both houses and hotels as of Wednesday (14/7). “We still have a total of 100 active Covid-19 cases which were mostly infected through family clusters.” Suwirta concluded.

Bali Officials have confirmed that the majority of Covid-19 patients in Jembrana haven't received the Covid-19 vaccine prior to infection.
