Permits are in the process of being granted to the grandson of Indonesia’s second president to establish a 6-star hotel in the resort of Jimbaran in South Bali.

Darma Mangkuluhur Hutomo’s company will build a hotel and golf resort overlooking the ocean.

Darma Mangkuluhur Hutomo has established a subsidiary company called PT New Kuta Golf and Ocean View (NKG).

Plans have been revealed that show a 6-star hotel, ‘Luxury Boutique Hotel,’ will be created on the land currently housing Hole 15-Th Cliff Hanger, in the Pecatu Indah Resort area, Jimbaran. Currently, the company is processing licensing documents.

Speaking at a press conference, Intra GolfLink Resorts Main Director Dwi Febri Astuti said, “The initial permit has been obtained, and we are collaborating with the consultant team to convey the advanced licensing stage. The construction plan will be as soon as possible after completing the documents.”

Astuti revealed that most of the capital for the project will come from funds obtained from an IPO (initial share offering) through PT IGR, which will be carried out in the near future.

He explained, “Are the funds from the IPO? Well, most of our financing is from the IPO. However, in line with the development and needs of the hotel itself, if, from the IPO, there is a lack of funds for our dream hotel, we will look for funding from other parties. Is it from our own equity or other places?”

He continued, “When do you think it will open? Well, the opening is currently in the licensing stage, and construction will take approximately 2 to 2.5 years; maybe in the next three years, God willing, we will meet again to announce this 6-star luxury hotel.”

The President Commissioner of PT IGR, Darma Mangkuluhur Hutomo, told the media, “The aim is to improve the golfing experience for tourists who come. This will be a unique experience for tourists who come, and the hotel will be different from other hotels that have been built.”

Hutomo has previously poured IDR 1.2 trillion to build a golf course in Bogor, West Java, as part of the GolfLink Resorts (IGR) brand. He has inherited a number of businesses from his grandfather, the second President of Indonesia, Suharto, and his father, Tommy Soeharto.

Hutomo has told the press, “We are committed to maintaining and growing the lifestyle ecosystem in the sport of golf so that the IGR business can be sustainable. We dare to invest with large amounts to improve performance in the future,”

He is keen to capitalize on the growing trend for young golfers in Indonesia, across Asia, and around the world.

The resorts that are both open and in the process of further development include the New Kuta Golf and Ocean View, the Palm Hill Gold Club in Bogor, and the Black Rocks Golf Club in Belitung.

Yet news that the Hutomo-Soeharto family empire is building a 6-star resort in Bali comes at a sensitive time on the island.

Leaders, tourism stakeholders and local residents care calling for a serious spatial planning review and review on permitting processes for hotels and resorts in Bali.

Leaders from the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) have been open about their concerns about the rapid and unrelenting development of hotels and resorts in Bali’s most popular vacation hotspots.

These groups have voiced their substantiated concerns that the government and government agencies could be selling permits to build hotels rather than granting permits and licenses based on what is best for the province.

In a recent interview, the Executive Director of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali Province, IB Purwa Sidemen, told reporters, “The question is, why are there still hotels being built? Because there are no definite figures to allow them to be built. There are no figures that show how many hotels Bali needs.”

Why hasn't anyone thought about utilizing Bukit peninsula, for agriculture and livestock farming instead of building hotels at the rest of the remaining land of the areas. To include indegenous previously famous from Bukit like Silik fruit and ground peanut within amongst other , fruits, vegetables and livestock products which are required to supply hotels need and for public consumption . Combining initiative in an open ground farming and the green house types of farming by integrating AI technology to the farming system may possible to be developed there. To design the farming area as such which would blend the farming as a beautiful landscape of the area could attract for tourism to enjoy too LINK

Corruption defies no boundaries. Golf and its geographical impact on sensitive areas to favour elite wealthy Asians is perfect to respect Bali and its cultural history and culture. Worse than Beach clubs.
