A 40-year-old woman named Alda Intan has been arrested by Bali police after breaking into a villa in Sanur.
The Head of Denpasar Police Department, AKBP Bambang Yugo Pamungkas, confirmed that the suspect was arrested for stealing credit cards and cash from the Waterlilly Suites Villa in Jalan Danau Poso, Sanur Kauh. An American national named Robert Lee Booner Jr was staying there at the time.
“The suspect was arrested without resistance on Sunday (13/3),” AKBP Bambang said on Tuesday (15/3).
The victim left his villa on Thursday at 5:30 pm to have dinner at a restaurant. When he arrived back at the villa a few hours later, the victim noticed that somebody had broken into his property. Some of his items were moved, and several valuables were stolen.
“The victim realized that the safe deposit box containing USD $1,200 inside his closet was gone, along with credit cards and silver jewelry,” AKBP Bambang added.
After a few days of investigation, the officers captured the suspect by tracing the transactions she made with the stolen credit cards.
“The suspect has been detained along with the evidence. She will potentially face nine years of imprisonment to be held responsible for what she has done,” AKBP Bambang concluded.
